There is a magic combination in the automotive world that combines "Shelby" and "Mustang." It is the latest hot rod pony that has a supercharged 5.4 liter engine.
K&N Engineering, Inc. has designed a 63-Series AirCharger Intake System (63-2571) for the 2007 Ford Mustang Shelby GT-500 5.4 liter V8 engine. K&N dynamometer test show a horsepower gain of 53.71 @ 5900 RPM.
"One of the reasons for such a large power gain is the large K&N Air Filter (RF-1048)," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The factory air box was restricted in size and restrictive in air flow especially at higher RPMs. We made a larger intake tube that fit nicely under the front stabilizer bar."
"The tube is oval because the throttle body was oval. This also allowed the tube cross section to be larger," said Heck. "The large horsepower gain of this air intake is also due to the radius adaptor design as it smoothly takes the 6 inch flange of the air filter and mates it with the intake tube."
